Owning a Fila Brasileiro

Once you have decided that the Fila Brasileiro is the right breed for your family we will discuss what it is your looking for in a dog. Some people are looking for the alpha dog and others are looking for a more laid back dog. There is more to picking a dog for your family than just color and sex. Once we know what you are looking for we can evaluate the pups and together decide which pup will best suit your needs.
Payment

We require a 250.oo deposit to hold the pup and the balance is due before the puppy is shipped or when the puppy is picked up.
Litter Arrival

I will try to update the site when mom goes into labor. You will notice that the due date has been replaced by an actual birthdate. Please give mom and the pups time to settle in before asking for pictures.
Pictures

Pictures of the pups will be updated every week. If the pups were born on a friday they will be updated every friday thereafter. For the first 2 weeks the pictures will be of all the pups. After 2 weeks of age they will be individual pictures.
Picking Your Pup

Your time of deposit decides your pick of the litter. Once the pups are 2 weeks old I will send everyone that chose fawn males pictures of those pups. Those that chose a brindle female will be sent those pictures. They will be individually labeled and first pick chooses first and then second pick chooses.
Feeding

Your pup will be weaned from mom around 4 - 5 weeks. They will be given ebsilac milk supplement in the beginning and gradually will have meats and vegetables added. 1 week before leaving for their new homes they will be given only dry food so that housebreaking will not be a problem.
Housebreaking

Housebreaking a puppy doesn't have to be challenging if done the right way. Most of the time we are to blame for the puppy not cathching on quickly. The most important thing to remember when bringing a new puppy into your home is never take your eyes off of them for the first 3 days. If you do not allow the puppy to have an accident and always get him outside it will become a routine/habit for him to need to go outside. We are all busy moms and dads and I myself have many times asked the kids to watch the pup while I run downstairs to get a load of laundry and returned to a wet spot on the carpet or a pile of poop and the kids are nowhere to be found. It's too late to yell at the pup for it because he has moved on and it means nothing to him. You've probably added another week of housebreaking because of the accident. Anytime the puppy cannot be watched he needs to go into his crate. He needs to go outside immediately after eating, sleeping, playing etc. The more you get him outside the more he will associate it with going to the bathroom. If you do have an accident blot it up with newspaper and take it outside and put a brick on it so it doesn't blow away. When the pup sniffs it tell him it's ok for it to be out there. Then soak the accident with vinegar and let dry. Vinegar works much better than the over the counter cover up the smell products. Vinegar will actually nuetralize the urine and the pup will not go back to that spot. Most of our pups have been fully housebroke within 3 days using this method.
Vaccination

Your puppy will get his Parvo shot at 5 weeks and his Vanguard + 5 shot at 6 weeks. He will need another round of shots at 10 weeks, 14 weeks and 1 year of age. He will also need a Rabies shot around 16 weeks of age. All pups are wormed with Nemex 2 Wormer at 2, 4 and 6 weeks of age. You will be given a Health Record with recorded dates of immunizations and wormings and you will also be given a Guarantee of Good Health stating that the puppy is free of any parasites or defects.
Registration Papers

The papers for your puppy will be given at the time the puppy leaves with complete instructions on how to fill them out. You will be given pre addressed envelopes and all you need to do is fill in your information and enclose a check or money order. You will also be given a 3 generation pedigree on both parents of the pup.
